Architecture and Performance
The LUMI supercomputer is based on the HPE Cray EX system and it has sustained computing power of 380 PFlops (HPL, High-Performance Linpack). LUMI attains its high performance with a significant number of nodes with accelerators (GPUs). Also, the system is supplemented with CPU-only partition as well as with a large object storage. LUMI is one of the leading platforms for AI for science in the world.

Sustainability and Future Outlook
LUMI is a trailblazer in sustainable high-performance computing and minimizing its carbon footprint. As one of the world’s greenest supercomputers, LUMI uses fully renewable energy, and its waste heat is further repurposed to heat hundreds of houses in the North-Eastern city of Kajaani in Finland.
