Leonardo consists in two partitions, both supplied by EVIDEN ATOS: one accelerated (Booster) and one only based on CPUs. The booster has 3456 nodes, each with 4 NVIDIA A100 GPUs. The DCGP has 1536 nodes with 2 Intel Xeon Platinum CPUs each (2×56 cores). Learn more.
Achievements and Impact
Leonardo has a nominal peak performance of 76.680 PFlop/s and it was ranked #9 in the Top500 list in November ’24. Leonardo provides computational resources both to the italian research community and to the European one, through the EuroHPC access calls.

Sustainability and Future Outlook
Leonardo is hosted in the Bologna Technopole, next to the ECMWF datacentre. The Leonardo datacentre has been designed on purpose for Leonardo and it is particularly efficient for the energy consumption, with a PUE under 1.1.
Leonardo will be expanded with a new system, called LISA that will be installed in 2025-2026.
