Containerization in HPC Environments

About the talk: 

The webinar on basic containerisation for HPC environments provides an overview of key tools and techniques. It covers how to use Singularity/Apptainer containers from various aspects, such as parallelisation with MPI and CUDA for GPU-accelerated workloads and including management and environment systems such as Conda for managing smaller, lightweight environments. The session emphasises practical strategies to optimise HPC workflows with containerised solutions.

About the speaker:

Teo Prica is an HPC Development Engineer at IZUM (HPC Vega). His interests include Virtualization and System Orchestration, Containerization, Scientific Software in HPC, and Optimization with a focus on Machine Learning. He is a member of HPC Federation Working Group (EGI), EuroHPC Containers Forum, a member of Slovenian National Supercomputing Network (SLING) consortium, Leonardo High Level Support Team, and contributions within European and National projects such as EPICURE, interTwin, SMASH, Castiel2, and EUMaster4HPC. He was part of the Deployment of 1st Operational EuroHPC JU system and Engineering team of EuroHPC Vega and provides High-level SLING User support and Technical Support and Maintenance for HPC Vega.
